I have had several friends and myself wonder if it was possible to color chocolate without purchasing an entire new set of oil based AmeriColors only to be told no, it is not possible....Well guess what?! IT IS possible. All you need is a bottle of AmeriColor Flo-Coat Candy Color and your favorite AmeriColor.
At least that is what I am calling this cake----Fruit Loop Cake. No it wasn't made with fruit loops but the taste sure does remind me of it. A few years back we went to a friends wedding cake and they had a really delicious cake that my husband swears tasted exactly like fruit loops and he wanted me to make it. I put it in the back of my mind but decided I would try to make it for a BBQ we went to over the weekend and decorate it with a cute mini bunting that everyone is doing now a days.
My husband has a chemistry degree although he isn't the nerdy type at all. But I thought these cufflinks were cute, I made them the same way I made the scrabble tile necklaces but attached a cufflink backing I got at Etsy.
Sometimes you just want to go run a few errands and don't want to lug a huge diaper bag along with you, but if you are like me you worry about those what if moments that might pop up and you are left empty handed and full diapered.
Over the weekend we went to my hubands family reunion in Southern Oregon and went camping, boating and relaxed for the weekend. It was a ton of fun (see below for more pictures from our trip). We each brought items to share and contribute to the meals and snacks. I made some decorated sugar cookies. I have been thinking about attempting these really pretty sugar cookies for a really LONG time but hadn't worked up the courage since I tried it a couple of times a few years back to catastrophe of epic proportions which resulted in me throwing the cookies out.
Several years ago I was in a friends wedding whose mom made each of the bridesmaids dresses. The outfits were a grey skirt (see the pic below) and a black velvet top. I love the fabric for the skirt but it was too long and had a train which really limited the use of the skirt after the wedding for me. So after staring at the skirt in my closet for several years (even moving it from house to house) I finally decided to break out the scissors and make it a bit more functional.
I did the Fueled by Fine Wine 1/2 marathon today it was REALLY hilly and was by far the hardest run I have ever done, my time was very slow but I finished it and had some really nice wine at the finish line as a reward.
Why is it that all of the jeans they sell now are soooooo long? I mean I am tall don't get me wrong
(5ft 9.5inches) but even with 3 inch heels on I was still steeping on the hem. So I decided to hem them but wanted to keep that nice professional hemline that they come with so instead of hacking them off and resewing them I used a no-cutting technique that will let me take out the hem and redo it if they shrink or I grow a few more inches, who knows.
Last weekend I ran a 1/2 marathon with my friend and neighbor in Seattle. It was a lot of fun to have a girls weekend even though it involved an extreme amount of exercise and pain. The Rock N' Roll Marathon/Half was a really cool way to see the city.
It was overcast and cool most of the day, the warmest part was going through the tunnel.
