For my birthday party I made little bottles of milk for the kids that came by repurposing Frappachino bottles I save, washed and removed the labels from.

Ribbon Flower Headband

Homemade Billy Button Flowers (craspedia)

When looking for ideas for my sisters shower I fell in love with these little yellow flowers that look like golf balls but didn't know what they were, after looking around for them  I discovered that they are called Craspedia or Billy Button flowers. They are so cute but when I called a florist to inquire about getting some for the shower the sticker shock just about knocked me over! Almost $2 per stem  with 1 flower on each stem ! How to make mitered cornered Napkins

For my sisters shower (seen here) I bought some fabric that I really liked that when with the yellow and grey bumble bee theme and used it in several places (honey favor tops, table runner, gift wrap, and to make cute custom napkins. But I wanted them to have nice professional looking edges and corners.

Beehive Cake

This was the cake I made for my sisters shower, I made it using an 8 inch round cake pan and a small half circle cake pan I had (but you can use 2 8 inch rounds and carve the shape so you don't have to buy a special pan). I then carved the shape of the middle part of the beehive from the 8 inch round cake. The cake was a honey lemon cake.

Fingerprint Tree Guest Book

For my sisters baby shower I found this adorable idea on Pinterest to have all of the guests put their fingerprint on a tree as leaves and had the guests put their name with their fingerprint instead of a guest book no one ever looks at. This way they could hang it in the baby's room to show all the people who love them.

My sister and her husband put their fingerprints toward the bottom in a heart shape (one finger print facing left, one facing right). So cute!!

TOAST Wine Glasses

I saw this tutorial over at The City Cradle  and knew I wanted to add them to my S'mores party. They used a stencil to apply corn syrup and then sprinkle with cinnamon. I used my Silhouette machine to cut out stencils and stick them on the wine glass to speed up the process and make it easier on myself.

How to make Marshmallow Fondant

I found this recipe on Cake Central and decided I would give it a shot, I love marshmallow fondant it tastes great and act very similarly to regular fondant, but is cheaper. The original recipe was great but unless you used it right when you make it marshmellow fondant can be hard to use and really makes you work hard to knead it and can crack more compared to the traditional (non-marshmellow) fondant. I figured for small decorations/flowers/pieces I would use Satin Ice fondant (tastes better than Wilton's in my opinion), but to save money and for a better taste I would cover large areas and cakes with a homemade marshmellow fondant.  The added corn syrup helps with the pliability and using the dough hook on my kitchen aid mixer was an amazing "why didn't I think of that moment"

Soap Dispenser

Isn't my new dish soap dispenser cute!!! I was tired of having that bottle of Dawn soap out on the counter so I repourposed a hand soap dispenser that came with this little wire rack. I peeled off the label it came with (aided by WD40 to remove the old adhesive-I love that stuff) and then cut out a label with my Silhouette on frosted vinyl adhesive to the proper dimensions with the letters cut out.

I was inspired by this cake

and decided I HAD to have it for my birthday, problem is the person who made this lives in Australia so I figured I would try to come up with something similar to it. I love how crisp and clean the edges of her cakes are even after covered in Fondant and set out to try to figure out her secrets.

Peony Birthday Cake

For this cake I made it cherry flavored by making a basic white cake and substituting cherry flavoring for the vanilla and adding a drop of pink food coloring. Once baked I torted the cake and filled it with white chocolate ganache and frosted the outside with the ganache as well.  Then I covered it in a thin layer of homemade marshmellow fondant

S'mores Party -Happy Birthday to ME! (one day early)

Here is the cake I made for the party, it was soooo good, I forgot what flavor I made it so it was like opening a present when we cut into it. Cherry flavored cake with white chocolate ganache frosting and baby blue fondant. I made the gumpaste peony's and will post a tutorial soon.

Baked Donuts

I made baked donuts a few months ago for National Donut Day but wasn't super pleased with the recipe, it was sticky and hard to fill the donut cavities without a big mess so I went hunting for a different baked mini donut recipe and I came across the one below, it is a winner in more ways than one, easy to make, easy to fill the cavities, quick baking time, and delicious.
