Reverse Applique

I made this cute little appliqued shirt by following a tutorial I found

Sweet Verbena has a great tutorial on how to do reverse applique and I decided to give it a shot on a T-shirt I got on Clearance (so if I destored it I wouldn't care). I cut out a shape on the Silhouette Cutter on cardstock and then traced around it on a piece of fabric backed with iron on interfacing. (**Note-if your image can't be reverse make sure you mirror the image!)

All traced and ready to sew!

I put the shirt on inside out and decided the best location for the image and then GENTLY pinned it into place then took off the shirt and adjusted the placement so there were no bubbles. Sew around the image (make sure you don't sew all the way through both the front and back of your shirt!
Trim around the left over interfacing, then turn the shirt right side out.
Make a small cut in the t-shirt material at the center of the design on the rightside of the shirt and gently trim the T-shirt material away fairly close to the seam created, DON'T Cut through the sewing!
