Eyelet Cake-Happy Birthday Emily

I made this cake for Emily for her 32nd birthday, her favorite color is yellow and she is very girly. So when we went to visit last weekend I decided to make a lemon cake with white chocolate ganache topped with homemade marshmellow fondant.

To make the eyelet I rolled out the fondant ~1/8" thick, I used the wilton rolling fondant cutter to cut the scalloped edge and then used the piping tips to punch holes in the fondant. I made a second narrower piece of fondant to lay ontop of this one and then cut strips to look like ribbon lacing through it and made a bow out of fondant.

I wanted the fondant around the cake to hang down below the cake so I covered a piece of round styrofoam with fondant to use as a base stand and put the cake on top.

Happy Birthday Emily (*she was actually wearing this shirt when we showed up, funny huh?)
