DIY Trundle Bed

Here is my daughters "Big Girl" bed, she LOVES it, and wants to go in there and pretend to take a nap a couple of times a day, bounce on the bed and generally play. It was a labor of love for sure.

I found the plans on Ana White's website it is a Full size Farmhouse bed  but you will need to look at the queen bed plans as well for some of the dimensions. The trundle was built using Ana White's trundle plans and we bought a new full and twin mattress for each respectively. The trundle was built using the entire plywood piece instead of cutting it to the twin size and my husband added a wood divider along the inside length of the twin bed so I can store shoes, winter clothes or extra bedding in there for my daughter. At points during construction she liked laying in the trundle storage space and "hiding" from us.

The bed was a definite labor of love it took us about 2 months total to get it finished in between all of the other things we were doing.

I used silver cup pulls for the trundle and it is on casters rolling on the floor not attached to the sides of the bed base which is nice.

I love how colorful and fun this room is and so does Karsyn.
I sewed the trundle comforter cover (more to come) the quilt and pillow case covers.

Hi, I built the same bed and now 2 years later, finally the trundle. I loved how you finished the trundle front. I am trying to figure out what to do with mine so the front isn't so plain. Is that wainscot you've used? I loved to know how you did it!

Yes it is wainscoting we measured and had the store cut the wainscoting to the right width, nailed it on with our nail gun with finishing nails and then put trip on the top, bottom and sides to cover up the wainscotting and wood (we got trim that is "L" shaped. Thanks for checking out the page
